Join martial arts instructor, Joelle Nañawa, at Topanga Nursery to explore the flow of the martial arts fan — a movement practice that blends elegance, precision, and quiet strength. Together, we’ll slow down, breathe deeply, and move with intention as we learn the foundations of this beautiful and historically rich martial arts form.
You’ll be guided through:
An invigorating Qigong warm-up and balance activation
Foundational T’ai Chi stances and body mechanics
Tai Chi fan basics and movement sequences
The beginning section of a martial arts fan form
Practices to help regulate the nervous system, ground the body, and cultivate flow and coordination
A brief history of T’ai Chi and the historical use of the fan as a weapon and training tool
This class is open to all levels and designed with beginners in mind. Whether you come solo, with a partner, or alongside friends and family, you’ll leave feeling more centered, empowered, and connected to your body.
Make a morning of it after class — enjoy coffee from the onsite Just Vibes café, browse plants and flowers, pick up local honey, and say hello to the nursery bees.
Spots are limited to 12 participants due to supplies and to help keep the space supportive and personal. Pre-registration is required to reserve your place.
